A surge in enrollment of over 200% led to the realization that we had outgrown the capacity at FBC (our Lower Campus). Through prayer, faith, and the guidance of scriptures we embarked on a capital campaign, submitting to and trusting God to make “our paths straight”.
- For we walk by faith, and not by sight – 2 Corinthians 5:7
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways to submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
In January 2020, through God’s perfect timing, we purchased the former Rustic Hills Country Club property and began the development of our Upper Campus (current home of both our middle school and high school). Following purchase of the property; renovations, expansion, and new construction at the Upper Campus were planned in two strategic phases over a three-year period. The property purchase, planning, and ensuring renovations and construction prepared and moved MCA forward for continued spiritual, academic, artistic, and athletic excellence for the next generation and beyond.
- Phase 1 began in January 2020 and included:
- Renovations to the current structure, then referred to as our Upper Campus for our middle school and high school students
- Those renovations were completed in September 2020 and the “Upper Campus” opened for our middle and high school students on the Upper Campus.
- The Upper Campus served as our academic building on the Upper Campus for three academic years (2020-2023)
- In August of 2023, the building was renamed as our middle school for our students in 6th-8th grade.
- In addition to classrooms it contains a cafeteria, assembly hall, learning commons, and various learning and meeting spaces.
- Phase 2 began soon after the completion of Phase 1
- It included planning and construction of a new high school
- Ground was broken for the new high school in June 2022
- Construction was completed on the building during the summer of 2023
- The new high school opened for classes in August of 2023
- The high school includes
- 12 classrooms including a science lab and art room —doubling the total classroom space at the Upper Campus!
- Gymnasium
- Strength and conditioning room
- Locker rooms
- Concession/Dining service area
- Large foyer with cafe/gathering space
- Offices
- Technological advancements
From the campaign onset we sought full funding (much already raised) to pay for the property purchase, and the work in Phases 1 and 2, and the continued renovations, upgrades, and future expansion of the Upper Campus, as well as additional staffing requirements and student scholarships.
