Our Philosophy

Guiding Student-Athletes in Strength, Spirit, and Stewardship

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Colossians 3:17

At Medina Christian Academy, athletics is more than just a game—it’s an extension of our school’s mission to glorify God through relationships, excellence, and service. We believe that through competition, student-athletes can experience purpose beyond themselves, learning to serve Christ both on and off the field.

Athletics is a platform for discipleship. Every drill, every practice, every game becomes an opportunity for students to grow spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually. Our goal is that each athlete discovers and lives out God’s purpose for their life—and that every win, every loss, and every lesson along the way brings them closer to Him.

Faith in Action

We play for an audience of One. Coaches and athletes alike are called to honor God in the way they train, compete, and carry themselves. We encourage our students to use their God-given talents to glorify Him.

Discipline That Builds Resilience

Athletics gives students the chance to develop self-control and perseverance in a structured, supportive environment. We guide them through challenges, helping them grow in both character and commitment to Christ.

Hard Work Rooted in Purpose

Our athletes are reminded that effort isn’t about personal glory—it’s about stewarding the gifts God has given them. When students train with diligence and humility, they grow not just as players, but as leaders.

Respect and Relationship

Christian love is at the heart of our team culture. Students are encouraged to look beyond personal interest and respond to teammates and opponents with grace, empathy, and respect. These relationships become the foundation for servant leadership in their homes, churches, and communities.

Humility in Victory and Defeat

Winning is not the goal—glorifying God is. At MCA, success is measured by spiritual growth and maturity, not the scoreboard. Whether celebrating a victory or learning from a loss, we teach our athletes to remain grounded in Christ.

Developing the Whole Athlete

  • Spiritual: Athletics becomes a tool to grow closer to God.
  • Loving: Teammates and opponents are treated with dignity and care.
  • Just: Fair play is expected and valued as a reflection of God’s justice.
  • Intellectual: Athletes are equipped with the strategies and knowledge to compete wisely and lead well.
