Preamble
It is our commitment that the community of Medina Christian Academy are of one mind, uniting in strong spirit and purpose, while growing and maturing in the knowledge of Christ and living out their faith for the glory of God (Col 1:10). The following foundational beliefs are the expected, guiding Biblical principles of Medina Christian Academy.
Creation
Medina Christian Academy believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the Christian’s final authority from God (II Timothy 3:16-17). We accept the Genesis account of creation and believe man came from divine creation of God and not by evolution (Genesis 1 & 2).
Jesus Christ
The birth of Jesus Christ is evidence of His deity, in that He was virgin born and was God in the flesh (Matthew 1:18, 20-23). The blood of Christ, shed on Calvary, is the only atonement for man’s sin, by the grace of God, through faith, apart from any works of man (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Rom. 3: 19-28). We believe in the burial and the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the tomb and His ascension into Heaven (I Corinthians 15:3-8). The body of Christ, called also the church, is composed of all born-again believers, who have by faith accepted Christ as Lord (I Corinthians 12:3-27; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 5:23). The two ordinances of the church are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The blessed hope of the church is the personal, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus to earth (Titus 2:11-13). The believer’s call to a life of holiness gives evidence to the world that Jesus saves, keeps and satisfies (Romans 12:1-2; James 2:26; John 17:20-24; John 13:34).
Scripture
Medina Christian Academy holds that the Bible is the infallible, divine Word of God and that salvation by faith in Christ is the initial step in the Christian life. There is an adequate Biblical basis for the idea of spiritual growth into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29), which is the Word of the Holy Spirit (II Corinthians 3:18). This growth begins with the initial act of saving faith and continues throughout life. The Holy Spirit makes the Christian conscious of the Biblical demands for a holy life which fulfills both God’s moral law and high law of love (Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 13:8-10; Galatians 5:14). The result is a life consecrated unto God and separated from the world.
Church
The school cannot overemphasize the importance of regular, weekly attendance in a Christian church where God’s Word is preached. This is vital in the support of the Christian home. One’s commitment to Christian education as offered at MCA is evidenced by the family’s commitment to the local church. The Christian school is not a substitute for regular family worship in church. Church is the place where believers can love one another (1 John 4:12), encourage one another (Hebrews 3:13), “spur” one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24), serve one another (Galatians 5:13), instruct one another (Romans 15:14), honor one another (Romans 12:10), and be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32).
Male and Female
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
Marriage
We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that marriage between one man and one woman, for life, uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church (Eph. 5:21-33). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
Purity
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, cohabitation, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10).
Forgiveness
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11).
Respect
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Medina Christian Academy.
Sanctity of Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps. 139.)
Worldview
If a parent or student has different beliefs, he/she must understand that we will operate and teach from a biblical, Christian viewpoint consistent with the Statement of Faith and must agree not to hinder or advocate against that teaching. Students must agree not to act inconsistently with, or advocate beliefs contrary to, the Statement of Faith.
