ART I, ART II, & ART III
Art I is a foundational course meant to build up creativity and independence within the students. Students will learn the elements of design and learn to implement them in their original works. This course focuses on foundational drawing techniques to help the students grow in their understanding of how wonderfully and beautifully the world we live in was crafted. Art II and III are designed for students who want to focus on cultivating their observational skills and want to explore drawing and painting in depth. Students in these classes will learn to create project proposals, conduct and participate in peer critiques and reviews, and how to fluently use art vocabulary to describe artistic techniques and principles.
Growing their portfolio
Advanced Art
These courses provide students with an opportunity to propose an area of study that excites them and allows them to pursue their own unique creative interests. Students in these courses will learn how to self-critique their work and engage in meaningful conversations about why art is created and why the artistic choices they made are relevant and important. Advanced art is designed to build an art portfolio for entrance into an art school or a university arts program. As we help students prepare for this next step, we also give them insight into the many career opportunities that exist in the visual arts.

They learn the rules of professional print production pertaining to design, photo composition, and writing techniques, while utilizing yearbook software.
Growing in the arts
Performing Arts
Art is a form of worship. At MCA, students are inspired to explore and enhance their instrumental, vocal, and theatre performance skills.
Concert Choir
“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live” Psalm 104:33.
Choir students develop and master vocal skills, study music of differing styles and time periods, and acquire a working knowledge of music theory, vocal technique, aural skills, and music reading skills. Through a variety of performance opportunities, students worship and glorify Christ through the gift of singing in groups and individually. Throughout the school year students will have the opportunity to be a part of MCA Worship Nights!
Worship Band
Worship band students elevate the worship experience at our weekly chapel services by creating an atmosphere for worship that points others to Christ. They develop worship leadership skills, discover how the Bible defines worship and worship leading, and study the history of musical worship. Worship band is more contemporary and includes members of the choir, and instruments such as guitar, drums, keyboards, and other electronic instruments are welcome!

Glorifying Christ Onstage
Theatre
In Drama Club, students seek to develop and refine an array of performance skills and techniques, utilizing their God-given creativity. Students participate in musicals, plays, improv exercises, and skits during chapel and school programs. Most recent MCA productions include the drama “Radium Girls” and the comedy “Afraid of the Dark”.
Symphonic Band
Symphonic band students include those interested in starting and developing their skills with woodwinds, brass, and percussion. This style of music is more traditional and is conductor lead, with more focus on instrumental technique and performing in a concert band setting. Individuals or groups of students here also have the opportunity to be a part of the Worship Band and play contemporary worship music. Throughout the school year students will have the opportunity to be a part of MCA Worship Nights!
