We are excited to introduce J-Term (January Term) at Medina Christian Academy! J-Term is held the first week in January after Christmas break each year. This one-week program offers students the opportunity to explore new skills, hobbies, and career paths outside of the traditional classroom setting.
A Unique Educational Experience
What Happens During J-Term?
During this week, students will participate in unique courses designed to ignite their passions and engage them in hands-on, experiential learning. Whether exploring career possibilities, diving into creative hobbies, or deepening their faith, J-Term offers a chance for growth beyond the typical school year. Attendance every day is essential, as students will earn a Pass/Fail credit for each class taken. Participation in J-Term is a graduation requirement at MCA, and each student must earn J-Term credit annually.
J-Term Class Selection
Students will select one morning class and one afternoon class. Seniors have the first opportunity to choose their classes, followed by Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen. Some classes have fees, which must be paid before enrollment is confirmed.

Internship Opportunities
Students also have the opportunity to participate in internships, offering them hands-on experiences in potential career paths. To participate, students must:
- Apply for an internship and interview with Mrs. Nickerson
- Work a minimum of 25 hours
- Submit an Internship Portfolio upon completion
- Make their own transportation arrangements to and from the internship location
Internship hosts must be external to the student’s immediate family.
